Closing the project
•Description: Report writing, terminating the contracts, delivering the product(s) and as appropriate life cycle support/funding documentation that provides sufficient information for others to adequately use/maintain/obtain similar or better results.
•Why it is important: Accurate record keeping and plan writing make closing a project upon completion easier. Documentation that clearly defines the requirements, budget, schedule, risks, quality control, procurement and results as well as appropriate training, operator, maintainer, programmer documents together will lessons learned make planning for the next similar project easier, provide a clear audit trail for management reporting/accounting and “tells the story” for potential customers/users.
