Project Planning
•Description: Based on results of customer approved scoping: develop activity sequences, define procurement requirements, collect data, identify project activities with constraints and assumptions, determine skill requirements, develop cost estimates, define project structure, establish benchmarks, identify risks, determine quality program methods, identify standards, link budget items with activities, write the activity plan.
•Why it is important: The resultant activity plan outlines all the known tasks in a logical sequence, ties budget and schedule to tasks via the Work Breakdown Structure (WBS), assists in the next phase of resource planning as well as begins the risk and quality processes.
•Tools: WBS, activity diagrams, MS Project or similar automated tools, risk matrix, budget estimating tools,
